Description
HO-scale SD45T-2 Locomotive in Cotton Belt livery captures SP’s tunnel-motor look from the late 1970s to the 1980s, bringing authentic power to HO layouts. It features a nose headlight, a modified “L†window cab, roof air conditioning, and a Nathan P-3 horn, along with a large front plow and anticlimber. The faded base colors recreate years of service, making this model a natural centerpiece for Cotton Belt scenes or broader SP-era operations.
Inside and out, the locomotive blends meticulous detailing with modern performance: fine-scale handrails, photo-etched windshield wipers, separately applied air tanks, LED lighting, and see-through cab and radiator details. Wheels are nickel-plated, blackened machined with RP25 contours for reliable operation on standard HO track, and McHenry operating knuckle couplers ensure smooth coupling. The drivetrain features all-wheel drive with a precision-gear, 5-pole motor and flywheels for quiet, steady running. It’s DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM Quick Plug, and sound-equipped versions include onboard SoundTraxx Economi sound that operates in both DC and DCC, with full DCC functionality in DCC mode and engine/horn/bell sounds in DC. A Primed for Grime option provides a ready starting point for adding grime and rust, while prototype details reflect the tunnel-motor lineage. Minimum radius is 18 inches (22 inches recommended) for best performance on typical HO layouts.
