Description
HO-scale H16-44 diesel locomotive in the New Haven Alpert scheme, road number 1609. This highly detailed Rapido model reproduces the Phase III version of Fairbanks Morse’s H16-44 for HO layouts and is offered in DC operation, or DCC-ready silent with a 21-pin interface, or DCC with sound.
It features road-name specific detailing such as hood doors and handrails, factory-installed grab irons, and full underbody piping. Lighting includes lit number boards, headlights, and green-and-white class lights, with a drive system derived from Rapido’s FA-2 design. Prototypical trucks (Dofasco or Fairbanks Morse) and correct-height Macdonald Cartier magnetic couplers further enhance realism, while road-name variations may include different fuel tanks and steam generators where appropriate for an authentic, ready-to-run model.
