Based on the six-axle EMD SD38 platform, this locomotive delivers the prototype’s 2,000 horsepower and features a highly detailed injection-molded body, see-through cab windows, and painted decoration for realism. It arrives fully assembled and ready to run, with bi-directional lighting, all-wheel drive, and a 5-pole motor with flywheels for smooth, quiet operation. The model is DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM plug and supports McHenry scale knuckle couplers and RP25 wheels for reliable performance on common HO track and 22-inch-radius curves. Sound-equipped variants use Onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx, offering engine, horn, and bell sounds that work in both DC and DCC modes with full DCC functionality and CV-based tuning.
