Pacific Fruit Express R-40-27 Reefer, 1961 Scheme, Single Car 2 is an HO-scale plastic model of a classic ice-cooled refrigerator car. From Rapido, this release faithfully reproduces the R-40-27 class used to carry perishable freight across the United States and marks the first HO-scale plastic depiction of these cars.
Designed from prototype blueprints and field measurements, the model includes authentic details such as separate wire grab irons, correct running boards and brake wheels, and road-number–specific cooling fan housings. It also features positionable roof hatches, Rapido Lincoln-Washington semi-scale metal couplers, free-rolling trucks with turned metal wheels, and accurate decoration with multiple road numbers available for each paint scheme, making it a versatile addition to any HO layout.
