Description
This HO scale GP7 locomotive in Conrail livery (CR 5834) is a meticulously detailed ready-to-run model designed for authentic Conrail-era operation on HO layouts. It represents one of the former Reading GP7s absorbed by Conrail in 1976, featuring era-accurate artwork and road-number-specific detailing such as the distinctive Conrail font on the sides for unit 5834.
The model offers a host of Prototypical touches, including a see-through cab with a full interior, scale handrails, etched radiator and fan grilles, and detailed fuel tanks and hoses. It rides on Blomberg-B trucks with correct bearing caps, and a heavy die-cast frame provides solid traction. Road-number-specific features and accurate ex-Reading lineage are complemented by LED lighting, body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers that are Kadee-compatible, and a Genesis driveline for smooth, quiet operation. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play and a 21-pin NEM connector, with available sound-equipped versions featuring Tsunami2 sound and dual cube speakers that work in both DC and DCC modes. Minimum radius is 18 inches, making it suitable for a wide range of HO layouts while delivering prototypical paint schemes and detailing, including the unique Conrail font on CR 5834.
