Description
Santa Fe HO-scale GP50 locomotivesâ€â€road number 3847â€â€are ready-to-run models that faithfully reproduce the late-Phase II GP50 styling. This version features Phase II body detailing with yellow ditch lights, a forward-facing exhaust stack, blue anti-climbers, vapor roof-mounted air conditioning, and late-style battery box doors with EMD-style lettering to capture the prototype’s distinctive look.
The locomotive is built for authentic operation and display: a full cab interior visible through see-through windows, wire grab irons, etched steps, and a detailed fuel-tank area all ride on a heavy die-cast frame with a Genesis drivetrain for solid traction and quiet performance. It uses RP25 wheels for reliable track contact and is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play via a 21-pin NEM connector. Sound-equipped variants feature a DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 and dual speakers for engine, horn, and bell sounds, operable in both DC and DCC modes, with grime-ready versions available to mimic in-service wear. The GP50 is designed for HO layouts requiring an 18-inch minimum radius (22 inches recommended) and carries prototypical Santa Fe lettering and detailing for an authentic roster addition.
