Description
CSX 420 AC4400CW HO scale locomotive, a high-detail, ready-to-run model that reproduces GE’s AC4400CW in CSX’s 1990s–early 2000s livery. Offered in both a DCC-ready version and a sound-equipped variant, it’s designed to drop into standard HO layouts and operate on DC or DCC systems. CSX-specific detailing includes front ditch lights, a prime air dryer, low-number boards, and the distinctive tow-chain mounted beneath the walkway for an authentic prototype look.
Under the hood, Genesis tooling rides on a heavy die-cast frame for traction and features a refined drive for smooth, quiet operation. The model showcases careful detailing: illuminated number boards, front and rear walkway lights, see-through cab windows, and etched walkway steps. The sound version adds a DCC decoder with Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds with NMRA-compliant functions and full DC and DCC compatibility. Road-number 420 reflects late-body cues such as a rearward air intake, welded fuel tank, evenly spaced rear grab irons, and GE steerable trucks to capture CSX’s distinctive late-production look.
