Description
An HO-scale SD75M locomotive in BNSF livery, road number 226, designed for model railroaders who want an accurate, road-number-specific representation of late Santa Fe-era power now patched for BNSF. It captures a late-life look with faded base colors, a small EMD plow, round deck-mounted ditch lights, and a tall Sinclair antenna, alongside early EMD trucks with hidden bearings. Road-number-specific detailing for 226 includes ex-ATSF heritage cues such as small cab numbers, added rear number boards, and yellow frame stripes, reflecting the unit’s distinctive markings. This model presents the history of the classâ€â€Âfrom Santa Fe service to PRLX and back under BNSF patchesâ€â€Âon a modern HO layout.
Under the hood, the SD75M combines power and precision. A heavy die-cast frame houses a Genesis driveline for smooth, quiet operation and strong pulling power. Realistic external details include coupler cut levers, Trainline and MU hoses, lift rings, and see-through cab windows with a full interior, plus fine Celcon handrails and walkways. Wheels with RP25 contours and body-mounted scale knuckle couplers improve tracking and coupling realism. The model is available in DCC-ready form with Quick Plug technology and a 21-pin NM connector, and some variants include onboard DCC with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound that operates in both DC and DCC modes. A primed-for-grime version provides a ready canvas for weathering to resemble an in-service appearance, and it’s designed for HO layouts with a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended) for smooth operation.
