Description
Rapido’s HO-scale H16-44 Phase III diesel locomotive in the New Haven Alpert scheme is a detailed, ready-to-run model for HO layouts. Based on Fairbanks Morse’s 1950s H16-44 design, it recreates the 1,600-horsepower eight-cylinder opposed-piston engine and captures the classic look of a mid-century road-switcher.
This model is packed with road-name specific detailingâ€â€hood doors and handrailsâ€â€plus factory-installed grab irons and handrails. It offers both dynamic and non-dynamic cab bodies, full underbody piping and conduits, lit number boards, headlights, and green-and-white class lights. It’s available in DC Silent (21-pin DCC-ready) or DC/DCC/Sound configurations, with prototypical trucks (Dofasco or Fairbanks Morse), steam generators where appropriate, and fuel tanks tailored to the road name. The drive system is Rapido’s FA-2-derived mechanism, and Macdonald-Cartier magnetic couplers sit at the correct height for authentic coupling.
