Description
Milwaukee Road HO-scale H16-44 locomotive, road number 436 in MILW orange and black, is a faithful HO model of Fairbanks Morse’s H16-44 Phase III hood-unit designed for realistic operation on model railroads. This 1600-horsepower diesel, produced in the 1950s through 1963, captures the distinctive long and short hood profile for an authentic on-layout presence.
Road-name fidelity is evident with hood doors, factory-installed grab irons and handrails, full underbody piping, lit number boards, headlights, and Milwaukee’s green-and-white class lights. The model offers electronics options including DC operation, Silent (21-pin DCC Ready), or DC/DCC/Sound, powered by Rapido’s drive system (adapted from the FA-2) and outfitted with prototypical Dofasco or Fairbanks Morse trucks and Macdonald Cartier magnetic couplers installed at the correct height. Road-specific fuel tanks and steam generators are included where appropriate to enhance authenticity on Milwaukee Road operations.
