Description
HO-scale Ready-to-Run Conrail SD38 locomotive, road number 6939, designed for model railroaders who want an authentic, plug-and-play addition to their freight trains. This detailed six-axle EMD diesel is depicted in Conrail livery and is ready to run right out of the box on standard HO layouts.
Road-number-specific touches for 6939 include smaller Q logos and Conrail lettering on the front and rear, plus period-correct details like a small EMD plow, a Leslie 3-chime horn, a Sinclair antenna, a rear brake wheel, and triple-clasp brakes. The SD38 series features a highly detailed injection-molded body with see-through cab windows, fine-scale handrails, and printed number boards, all complemented by RP25-contoured wheels and all-wheel drive for smooth operation. The model is DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM plug and McHenry scale-knuckle couplers, and can be found in both standard and sound-equipped variantsâ€â€the latter offering onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx with engine, horn, and bell sounds and full DCC compatibility. Painted and decorated to match the prototype Conrail scheme, with a 22-inch minimum radius recommended for reliable performance on typical HO layouts.
