Description
This HO-scale NSC 6000 gondola car with load is a detailed model designed for realistic operation on modern HO layouts. Part of the Athearn Genesis line, it faithfully reproduces National Steel Car’s 6,000 cubic-foot capacity gondola from the late 2010s and includes a removable scrap load to enhance interchange scenes.
Fidelity features include metal grab irons, etched crossover platforms where applicable, and accurate brake piping in both metal and plastic components. The car rides on newly-tooled Barber S-2-E 100-ton trucks with animated bearing caps and printed road numbers, and it is weighted to NMRA standards for reliable operation. Body-mounted McHenry lower-shelf couplers help ensure smooth handling, and the model is designed for a minimum 22-inch track radius, with 24 inches recommended for best performance on typical layouts.
