HO Maxi-III Well Car for Southern Pacific is a faithful HO-scale model of a modern intermodal double-stack car. Well cars use a recessed well between the trucks to carry containers lower than on a flatcar, enabling a stack of two containers per car where clearance permits.
This model features prototypically correct 33-inch and 38-inch solid nickel-silver wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for steady operation, and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers on the upper and lower shelves for reliable coupling. The injection-molded body is highly detailed, with authentic paint and printing, and the design supports HO layouts with curves as tight as 18 inches, making it a practical choice for realistic intermodal scenes.
