HO GP9 Locomotive CG 166 is a detailed HO-scale model of the classic EMD GP9 switcher, built to deliver authentic prototype details and reliable performance on standard layouts. The CG 166 road number identifies a second-order GP9 with a smaller fuel tank and forward-side fuel fillers, providing accurate prototype cues for both display and operation.
Beyond its authentic appearance, the GP9 features a full cab interior, see-through cab windows, etched grilles, and scale handrails mounted on a heavy die-cast frame for sturdy, quiet running. It’s ready to run and available in DC or DCC configurations; DCC-ready Quick Plug compatibility via a 21-pin NEM connector makes decoder upgrades straightforward, and sound-equipped versions include onboard DCC with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 and dual speakers for realistic engine, horn, and bell sounds. The 166 configuration faithfully reproduces prototype detail, and the model is designed for HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius (22 inches recommended).
