Description

Santa Fe GP7B Locomotive with DCC and Sound in HO scale, ATSF 2791A. This detailed, ready-to-run model reproduces Santa Fe’s GP7B switcher, delivering authentic livery, operation, and onboard sound for yard and mainline work on a model railroad layout.

Under the hood, it features a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor and a heavy die-cast frame for smooth, reliable pulling power, plus LED lighting and see-through cab windows with a full interior. The DCC-equipped version houses a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 decoder with dual speakers, providing engine, horn, and bell sounds and full DCC functions; it can also operate on DC for non-DCC layouts. Era-accurate details include spark arrestors (supplied in a poly bag), canvas sunshades, and a repaint with yellow handrails and blue stanchions, along with GP7B-specific features like dynamic brakes on the B unit and full footboards. Body-mounted scale McHenry couplers (Kadee-compatible), RP25 wheels, and a Quick Plug 21-pin DCC connection ensure easy setup, while the model’s weathering-ready surfaces invite grime weathering to recreate an In-Service appearance; prototype context recalls GP7’s 1949 introduction and its evolution into the GP9 by 1954, with many units rebuilt for continued service.
