HO-scale GE 44-Tonner Switcher Locomotive in Milwaukee Road livery (MILW 991) is a compact diesel switcher designed for light yard work and industrial switching. This HO model from Rapido Trains uses all-new tooling to reproduce multiple Phase variationsâ€â€from Phase Ic, with or without lighted hood-side number boards, to Phase III with positionable top hood hatches, and Phase IV. It rides on a heavy die-cast chassis and fuel tank, with two styles of fuel-tank skirting and separately-applied door latches for added realism. A full cab interior and photo-etched cab steps enhance the scale detail, while a smooth-running coreless motor with dual flywheels delivers steady performance.
On the technical side, the model is offered in DC and DCC configurations. DC models are DCC-ready with a NEXT-18 decoder socket and speakers, while DCC-equipped versions include ESU sound decoders and a Mo-Power power capacitor for dependable operation on powered layouts.
