Description
HO FP45 Locomotive MILW 2 is an HO-scale replica of the FP45 cowl-bodied locomotive used by Milwaukee Road, accurately representing MILW 2 with period markings. Fully assembled and ready to run, it features a detailed cab interior and see-through cab windows, fine-scale Celcon handrails, and a heavy die-cast frame for enhanced traction. The model uses a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole motor, precision flywheels, and all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet operation, with RP25-contoured wheels for reliable performance on most tracks. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector, and many versions include onboard DCC with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound for DC or DCC operation, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds. Road-number specific features and MILW cuesâ€â€such as a nose-mounted headlight and a winterization hatchâ€â€heighten prototype fidelity.
Road-number specifics offer distinct finishing options: 2 with faded colors, roof beacon, and cab signal light; 3 with smaller side letters and no beacon; and 4 with larger letters and the beacon removed. MILW-tailored details include a nose-mounted headlight, a Leslie 3-chime horn, a MILW tall MU stand, a non-dynamic brake housing, an electronic bell, a winterization hatch, and a passenger pilot plow. The model supports realistic operation on HO layouts with a minimum radius of 18 inches and a recommended 22 inches for best appearance, and features full DCC functionality and NMRA compatibility in sound-equipped versions. It can be configured for MU lashups with lead-unit horn, bell, and lights, and CV charts are provided to tailor performance.
