HO EMD GP30 Locomotive UP 850 with UP Shield on Cab is a detailed HO-scale model recreating Union Pacific’s GP30, complete with the UP shield on the cab. It’s designed for model railroaders who want an accurate, visually striking UP locomotive to anchor a modern-era roster on an HO layout.
Part of the Stealth Series, the model is DCC-ready out of the box and ships without sound; an 8-ohm speaker is installed to simplify adding a DCC/sound decoder later. Front and rear lights are directional, while other lighting comes on with track power. The model features a precision drive for strong pulling power and smooth slow-speed operation, all-wheel electrical pickup, and an ABS body with a die-cast chassis for maximum tractive effort. It carries premium, prototypically accurate paint schemes and road numbers, with many separately applied details, metal Kadee-compatible couplers, and compatibility with HO Code 70, Code 83, and Code 100 track; it requires a minimum radius of 18 inches.
