This HO-scale EMD E8A locomotive with head-end power recreates the look and service role of mid-century commuter and intercity trains. Equipped with DCC and sound, it captures BN and Amtrak heritage with authentic details such as an HEP muffler and hatch, dynamic brakes, sealed twin-beam headlights, modified pilots, correct side grills, Hyatt roller bearing covers, and a sturdy heavy die-cast chassis.
The model delivers a smooth, all-wheels-powered drive for reliable pulling power, paired with ESU LokSound for realistic E8 audio. A comprehensive lighting package includes headlights, class lights, backup lights, ground lights, cab lights, and Stratolite beacons, plus numerous road-specific details in plastic and etched metal. Note that some lighting features may not operate in DC mode.
