Description
HO-scale Athearn PS 4740 Covered Hopper in Great Northern livery (GN 172388) is a ready-to-run freight car that brings authentic depth to an HO layout.
Fully assembled and built for reliable operation, it features body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for smooth rolling on most HO track. Roller-bearing trucks and a weighted body provide stable tracking and realistic weight, while razor-sharp painting and printing deliver crisp, prototypical detail. With an 18-inch minimum radius, it fits neatly on common HO curves. It’s primed for grime, offering a convincing in-service look with faded base colors and serving as a perfect starting point for adding grime and rust to match a specific era.
