Description
HO Scale ACF Centerflow 2-Bay Covered Hopper model reproduces a 2,970-cubic-foot bulk freight car built to carry dense loads like cement and sand. Introduced in the 1950s, the Centerflow design uses a rounded body to improve structural strength and gravity unloading, making it a believable centerpiece for mid-century freight trains on HO layouts.
Fine details include round or trough hatches, a photo-etched metal roof walk, and separately applied wire grab irons, stirrup steps and brake wheel. The model also features detailed outlets, a separate brake cylinder, valve and air reservoir with wire brake plumbing, screw-mounted express-type trucks, and machined metal wheels with RP25 contours. It is weighted for optimum performance, with body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, and a highly detailed, painted and printed body for realistic decoration. The minimum radius for reliable operation is 18 inches.
