Description
An HO-scale GE AC4400CW diesel locomotive in the WNYP livery with road number 6005, this Athearn model is a ready-to-run representation designed to bring authentic freight-hauling action to an HO layout.
From the illuminated ditch lights and see-through cab to the heavy die-cast frame and all-wheel-drive powertrain, this model emphasizes durability and realism. It features a 5-pole motor with flywheels for smooth, quiet operation, RP25 wheel contours for reliable track performance, and a 5,000-gallon fuel tank. The locomotive is DCC-ready with Quick Plug technology via a 21-pin NEM connector and includes McHenry operating scale knuckles for prototypical coupling. Fully assembled and ready to run, it’s suitable for HO-track curves with a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended). For the WNYP variant, road-number-specific features include three dynamic brake intakes, low-number boards, GE steerable trucks, and the horn configuration Nathan K5LAR-24 on road 6005.
