This Gunderson-built box car captures a workaday freight car used to haul a wide range of loads, from auto parts to forest products, and serves as a realistic backbone in a modern freight train. The primed-for-grime finish provides a ready-to-weather base that invites weathering to match prototypes on your layout.
Key details include separately applied wire grab irons and etched end platforms, body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, razor-sharp painting and printing, and weight to ensure smooth operation. It rides on 36″ metal wheels with RP25 contours and is designed for model railroad curves with a minimum 18″ radius (22″ is recommended). The Primed for Grime variant duplicates the look of in-service equipment, with faded base colors matched to the prototype and serves as an ideal starting point for adding grime and rust to create a truly weathered model car.
