Description
This HO-scale 50-foot Youngstown plug-door insulated box car is a detailed model that recreates mid-century temperature-controlled freight. The plug doors slide shut to form a tight seal on the car body, helping keep cargo within a few degrees of its original temperature on long runs, making it ideal for depicting perishables such as canned foods.
Features include separately applied brake wheels and ladders, 70-ton roller bearing trucks, 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and weight tuned for dependable performance. The body is highly detailed and richly painted to reflect prototypical schemes, with body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers for smooth, realistic operation. It carries a minimum 18-inch radius for compatibility with common HO layouts and is available as a 3-car set for easy fleet building.
