Description
This is Bachmann 51570 N New York Central 2-6-2 Prairie Steam Locomotive & Tender 1905. Features includes skew wound motor with bronze bearings, engine and tender electrical pick-up, traction tires for greater pulling power, diecast chassis, metal handrails, painted in color black.
Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the “Prairie” model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!
