Description
The HO Vancouver Iron Piggyback Flatcar is a detailed model inspired by the historical transition of railroads into piggyback services during the mid-20th century. Initially ordered by the Canadian National Railway from Vancouver Iron and Engineering Works in 1966, these flatcars were designed to accommodate trailers of various lengths, marking a significant evolution in freight transport. The model replicates the flatcar’s heavy die-cast center sill and photo-etched deck surface, reflecting its robust construction.
This flatcar features a variety of authentic components, including wire grab irons, two styles of hitches, and Barber S-2 trucks equipped with metal wheels. The Rapido semi-scale metal knuckle couplers enhance its operational quality, allowing smooth coupling with other freight cars. It is a faithful reproduction intended for collectors and enthusiasts aiming to build a realistic model railway, embodying both functional design and historical significance.
