Description
Six-car HO-scale Pacific Fruit Express R-40-27 reefers in a 1966 repaint. This HO-scale plastic model reproduces the classic ice-cooled reefers that hauled perishables coast to coast, with era-appropriate lettering and detailing to bring mid-century freight operation to life on any layout. The R-40-27 class featured a distinctive door arrangement designed to balance loading access with interior temperature, a design faithfully captured in this six-car set.
This release marks Rapido’s first plastic HO-scale version of these cars and includes faithful detailing such as separate wire grab irons, correct running boards and brake wheels, per-road-number cooling fan housings, and positionable roof hatches. The six cars are equipped with free-rolling trucks with turned metal wheels and Rapido Lincoln-Washington semi-scale metal couplers, with accurate paint and multiple road numbers for variety across the set, making it ideal for realistic mid-century fruit-shipper scenes on HO layouts.
