Description
The HO F40PHM-2 Locomotive with DCC in the Metra Fade 197 scheme is renowned for its iconic design that has served Chicago commuters effectively for over 30 years. Commonly referred to as “Winnebagos” due to their RV-like appearance, these locomotives were the last units ordered by Metra in 1991. They underwent a significant rebuild at Progress Rail in 2016, which included a new faded paint scheme similar to that of the MP36 series. This model captures the key features of the F40PHM-2, including the Nathan P5a horn, dual Gyralite headlights, and an array of safety lights.
Each locomotive comes equipped with essential details like working ditch lights, extensive underbody piping, and accurate cab interior paint. Some models are also sound-equipped with the ESU LokSound V5 decoder, ensuring realistic operation on both DC and DCC layouts. With its improved motor and smooth drive, the F40PHM-2 offers an immersive experience for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
