Description
This HO-scale model faithfully recreates PRR S1 Duplex locomotive No. 6100â€â€a 6-4-4-6 steam locomotive built for high-speed passenger service and celebrated for its World’s Fair appearance. Featuring Raymond Loewy’s streamlined shell and the distinctive duplex wheel arrangement, it captures the bold silhouette and period character that define the PRR era on an HO layout or in a display collection.
Stealth Series and DCC-Ready with no sound, the model is prepared for a future sound decoder. Out of the box, directional front and rear lights are active while other lights run with track power; an 8-ohm speaker is installed to simplify adding DCC sound if desired. A precision drive mechanism with a 5-pole can motor and skew-wound armature delivers smooth slow speeds and dependable pulling power, mounted in a heavy die-cast chassis with handcrafted brass boiler, cab, and tender bodies for an authentic look and weight. Rubber traction tires boost traction, and the model includes many separate detailsâ€â€handrails, ladders, piping, cab glass, whistle, brass bellâ€â€plus factory-installed crew figures and two spare flanged drivers to enhance a prototypical appearance. It’s finished in authentic paint schemes that reproduce the World’s Fair era and PRR livery for both display and operating enjoyment.
