Description
HO-scale Class D 4-Truck Shay Locomotive for the G.C. & E. line, No. 14, with Paragon 4 Sound. This model captures the distinctive geared-drive Shay, designed to deliver high tractive effort on rough tracks and steep grades. It uses Paragon 4 Sound and Control, an operating smoke unit, and a built-in DCC decoder with Back EMF to provide smooth slow-speed performance in both DC and DCC layouts.
Built with a heavy die-cast locomotive and tender body for added weight and pulling power, it rides on a robust 5-pole can motor with a skew-wound armature for steady operation. Rubber traction tires enhance grip, while prototypical lighting includes separately controllable headlight, cab light, and reverse light. Factory-installed engineer and fireman figures, along with numerous small details such as handrails, ladders, conduits, and a brass bell, add realism, and a 22-inch minimum radius ensures smooth operation on typical HO layouts.
