HO Scale Athearn BethGon Coalporter with Coal Load for BNSF is a detailed model freight car that recreates the BethGon coalporter prototype used in coal service. This version includes a removable coal load and a rotary coupler at one end, allowing trains to pass through rotary unloaders without uncoupling.
Designed for HO layouts, it features all-aluminum construction and a trough-style bottom for added capacity and a lower center of gravity to improve tracking. The car rides on 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and is weighted for steady, reliable operation. It also includes separate wireform grab irons, etched coupler platforms, a brake wheel, and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. Painted and printed for realistic decoration, the model offers multiple road numbers to match various consists, and a minimum curve radius of 18 inches ensures compatibility with common hobbyist layouts.
