HO U50 Locomotive UP 47 is an HO-scale replica of Union Pacific’s 1960s U50, a bold dual-prime-mover freight locomotive that pairs two 2,500-horsepower engines on a single chassis to deliver about 5,000 horsepower and faster train speeds without adding more units. This model faithfully reproduces UP’s appearance and road-number cues for unit 47, including era-appropriate branding, making it a realistic centerpiece for any HO layout. It is designed to run on standard HO tracks and supports both DC and DCC control.
On the detail and performance side, the UP U50 features illuminated truck lights, classification lights, and number boards, plus see-through air intakes and MU hoses. It offers a fully detailed cab interior, walkways, windshield wipers, and fine-scale handrails, all riding on a heavy die-cast frame for extra traction. The chassis uses RP25-contoured wheels for compatibility with common HO track. A DCC-ready Quick Plug interface with a 21-pin NEM connector makes digital conversion straightforward; sound-equipped versions incorporate a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 decoder with four cube speakers so engine, horn, and bell sounds come to life in both DC and DCC, with CV adjustments possible via the included CV chart.
