Description
HO-scale BC Rail Dash 9-44CW locomotive in BCOL 4650 is a ready-to-run model that captures the power and styling of a late-model freight locomotive. Delivered to BC Rail in 2000 with a GE wide cab and distinctive teardrop-front windows, this unit served in heavy freight service and later operated alongside CN power after the 2004 lease. The model reflects Canadian styling cues such as anticlimbers and a K5LA horn, and includes illuminated ground lights and rock lights for day and night realism, while preserving the prototype’s no-air-conditioner configuration.
Under the hood, a Genesis-based drive delivers dependable pulling power with a five-pole motor, a heavy die-cast frame, and all-wheel drive for smooth operation. The model is rich in detailâ€â€etched, see-through walkway steps, a full cab interior with see-through cab windows, and detailed fuel tanks with fillers and gaugesâ€â€plus body-mounted scale knuckle couplers, MU hoses, and trainline hoses. It’s DCC-ready with Quick Plug technology and a 21-pin NEM connector, and features LED lighting and RP25-contoured wheels for reliable performance on standard tracks. Sound-equipped variants add onboard DCC sound with multiple engine, horn, and bell sounds; the model is fully assembled and ready to run, with a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended) for best handling on layout curves.
