HO scale F3A Locomotive with DCC and Sound in Freight FEC 501 is a detailed, ready-to-run replica of the classic EMD F-unit, designed for authentic mainline operation on HO layouts. It captures the bulldog-nose profile, see-through cab, and prototypical detailing that brings first-generation diesel freight power to life on modern or vintage railroad scenes.
Beyond its look, this model is built for performance and versatility. It features LED directional lighting, a heavy die-cast frame, and a smooth five-pole drive with all-wheel traction for reliable pulling power. DCC-equipped versions include a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 decoder with dual speakers and independent sound boards for A and B units, operating in both DC and DCC and NMRA-compatible in DCC mode; some functions may be limited in DC. A Quick Plug 21-pin NEM connector eases DCC installation, and the model rides on RP25 wheels with body-mounted scale knuckle couplers.
