Description
HO Scale SD45T-2 Locomotive in Cotton Belt livery is a faithful representation of SP’s six-axle Tunnel Motor, a GM-EMD diesel-electric delivering about 3,600 horsepower from a 20-cylinder 645 engine. The model captures the late-1970s era with a modified Dash-2 cab (L-window), a nose headlight, and roof-top air conditioning, plus a faded paint finish that mirrors years of hard service on the Cotton Belt system. Road number 9383 helps identify the unit on a layout and reflects the prototype’s distinctive appearance.
Detail is built for realism, including fine-scale handrails, see-through cab windows, welded air tanks, LED lighting, and a DCC-ready 21-pin interface for easy decoder upgrades. It rides on an all-wheel-drive drivetrain with a 5-pole motor and flywheels, features nickel-plated, blackened machined wheels with RP25 contours, and McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers for smooth operation. A Primed for Grime option provides a weathered, in-service look, while a sound-equipped version adds onboard DCC with SoundTraxx Economi sound that runs on both DC and DCC with engine, horn, and bell effects. See-through dynamic brake fans and radiator grilles, plus a minimum 18″ radius (22″ recommended) ensure compatibility with a wide range of HO layouts.
