Description
The HO Scale 60-Foot Gunderson Boxcar is a highly detailed model designed for modern HO layouts, representing a Gunderson-built, 60-foot boxcar commonly seen on today’s freight trains and ready to haul a wide range of loadsâ€â€from auto parts to forest products. It features separately applied wire grab irons and etched end platforms, body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, razor-sharp painting and printing, and a weighted underframe for stable operation. The car runs on 36-inch metal wheels with RP25 contours and is suited for layouts with a minimum 18-inch radius (22-inch radius recommended).
Part of the Legendary Liveries line from Athearn, these boxcars showcase iconic paint schemes that celebrate popular railroading looks and “what-if†history scenariosâ€â€perfect for collecting, proto-freelancing, or building a more varied roster. The prototype is the modern 100-ton, high-cube 60-foot boxcar; Gunderson-built examples are faithfully represented, and similar Trenton/Greenbrier-built cars are offered as close stand-ins to expand layout options.
