Description
HO-scale FMC 12-foot plug-door box car in gray is a detailed model ideal for HO-scale layouts, capturing a classic mid-1970s per diem boxcar used in freight service. It features all-new tooling with accurate dimensions, a photo-etched cross-over platform, and separately applied grab irons, end ladders, and a brake wheel, plus 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. The highly detailed injection-molded body is painted and printed to reflect authentic prototype decoration, and a minimum 18-inch radius is recommended for smooth operation on typical layouts.
Designed to resemble in-service equipment, this car offers a ready starting point for grime weathering with faded base colors matched to the prototype, ideal for adding grime and rust. The FMC 50-foot outside-post design and varied door configurations reflect the era’s per diem car boom of the 1970s, making it a versatile addition for layouts focused on mid-century freight scenes.
