Description
This HO-scale, ready-to-run 40-foot Fruehauf Z-Van intermodal trailer is a highly detailed model designed for HO railroad layouts. It ships fully assembled and ready to use, featuring separately applied mud flaps, rubber tires, and 2- or 4-door rod configurations that mirror prototype variations. The trailer can be fitted with wheeled or shoe-style landing gear, making it a faithful addition to intermodal scenes that blend road and rail across decades from the 1970s to the 2000s.
Injection-molded construction supports crisp detail, and the model is offered in ribbed-side, beaded-side, and smooth-side variants to reflect the evolution of Fruehauf’s Z-Van trailers. The 40-foot design was the original standard, with 45-foot extensions appearing later, and refrigeration equipment and different landing gear and door-rod configurations available across prototypes. These features provide HO-scale layouts with a rugged, period-accurate trailer for yards, interchanges, and rail-served scenes from that era.
